Welcome to Ridgmont Heritage

Wednesday to Sunday - 10am to 4pm (last food orders 3pm)

Ridgmont provides a unique journey into our local rail heritage and serves delicious breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. It is the jewel in the crown of the Marston Vale Community Rail Line, and is run for the benefit of local communities by Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity.

Friends of Ridgmont Station

As well as engaging thousands of people in volunteering, bringing people together and creating pride in station and community, Station Friends groups play a critical role in making their stations welcoming, pleasant and attractive places.

Their work includes maintenance of floral displays and gardens at stations, and design and painting of murals. They are also the eyes and ears of their local station reporting any faults and issues.

There are a number of volunteering opportunities available at the Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre – the Gift Shop and Museum are staffed by volunteers.

Please note it is not always possible to open the Museum at all advertised times due to a shortage of volunteers. Please call 01525 287121 in advance if you are making a special journey for the Museum

If you would like further details of volunteering opportunities please call 01234 832645 or email heritagecentre@bedsrcc.org.uk

Lovely Staff

We visited the centre and tea rooms on a whim on a random Sunday. Hoping to find a gift for my rail-enthusiast dad, we managed just that and so much more. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady who took the time to show us around the building and gave us a tour of the ticket office. She was so very knowledgeable and really friendly, answering our questions and making sure we had a great experience. We stayed for a spot of lunch, which was lovely and great value for money.

Afternoon Tea

We arrived about noon and had a little trouble with the wheelchair ramp but the staff figured it out and we managed to get all four wheelchairs in no problem. We were shown to a beautiful room and settled down ready for afternoon tea. The staff couldn't do enough for us; a lady came in and told us the history of the station building and we will arrange a visit to the home sometime soon for them to come and show us some memorabilia and tell us all about the station and it's history.

Afternoon Tea

A very welcoming experience thanks to the excellent Heritage Centre guides who knew their stuff and pointed us in the right direction. The Centre is a must-visit not just for aged train spotters but for everyone. The line has a new future with East West Rail, which needs all our support to get locals back on trains. Great coffee and cake made the day.

Afternoon Tea at its best

Excellent traditional afternoon tea; could not finish it resulting in several boxes of food taken away. The service was superb from Linda and her team. We have been to very famous and expensive venues for afternoon tea but, for a little venue, this was really great value for money.
